How to Use Taxis and Hotel Addresses in China

Getting around China is easier when you can show the right address in the right format. For first-time visitors, the problem is often not the taxi itself, but the address, entrance, district, or pronunciation.

Save addresses in Chinese

Always save your hotel address in Chinese characters. English names may not be enough for a driver, delivery service, or local staff member. If possible, save the hotel phone number too.

Prepare a simple address card

A useful address card should include hotel name, full Chinese address, nearby landmark, phone number, and a short line asking the driver to help confirm the destination.

Ride-hailing notes

If you use ride-hailing, check the pickup point carefully. Airports, train stations, malls, and attractions may have specific pickup zones. The map pin may not be enough if you are at the wrong gate.

Backup plan

If translation fails, show the address card and ask hotel staff, station staff, or restaurant staff for help. Keep your battery charged and save offline screenshots.
